Children's Missions

Compassion International:  The children bring their loose change every week to support a child overseas through Compassion  International.  We currently support Salomon from Peru.

Dog Tags: Train Assist Guide Serve - this 501c3 non profit oraganization provides Service Dog Owner Training Programs for soldiers suffering from PTSD and is one of multiple organizations to receive Word Work proceeds.

Heifer Project:  Heifer International's mission is to end hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth using livestock and training in sustainable agriculture community development projects to help millions of people become self-reliant (  By completing their Word Works Challenges (question packets done at home), children can purchase animals or shares of animals to be distributed thru Heifer Intl.  To date, the flock has sponsored:

  • 3 Flocks of Chicks (Fall 2008)   
  • 1 Lamb (Spring 2009)
  • 4 Flocks of Geese (Fall 2010)

New Hope Ministries: New Hope Ministries is a Christian social service agency that shows the love and hope of Christ by serving our neighbors in times of need.  By completing their 2010/2011 winter word works, the FLOCK earned 113 canned goods to donate to NHM food bank.

Mission Mission Central is the mission warehouse of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church located in Mechanicsburg.  The  FLOCK volunteers there occasionally.  Through Word works they  sponsored 12 School kits. (Winter 2009/2010) and additional school kits in 2013.

CURE International:  The Flock sponsored 13 casts to be provided to children in need.  In 2014, they raised $150 to help provide surgery for 4 patients.

Truck Stop Ministries:  This ministry is located in Carlisle and provides counseling and support to truck drivers.  The Flock prepared cookies for their Christmas ministry of delivering home baked treats to truckers traveling away from home over the holidays.  Since 2008, the Flock has sent 30-35 bags of cookies each year.

WWJD Challenge:  Each week, the children are encouraged to do one thing over and above the normal in honor of Jesus.  Their actions are posted on a bulletin board.

Bulletin Covers:  The last Sunday of the month, a child designs the bulletin cover for the church service.
